Wake up, sleepy head

Amazing what the atmosphere of our lecture hall can do to one's will to fight the heaviness of his eyelids. -.- Today during Pathology lecture, I think I dozed off for a few seconds only to wake up meeting the professor's gaze. Lucky for me she simply smiled and went on with her lecture. :P And yesterday, I skipped one whole lecture altogether. It was the 3rd lecture of the day and I was at the campus from eight. Imagine going through a subject like Community Medicine through that. Urh.

I think I'll put all the blame of my sleepiness on the low temperature. Hehe. I'm not even burning the midnight oil, yet, but I can even barely wake up for my Subh prayers. (read: I said, barely) Yer lah, pukul 6 dah syuruk, mane tak nye. :P

*Note to self*

Ways to not fall asleep during lectures:-

1. Sweets, munchies or whatever chewable (be sure they're not fattening, though) Nyeh nyeh.
2. Pinch, punch, bite yourself.
3. Write down whatever the professor says.
4. Message someone, anyone, her. ;)
5. Don't go to lectures at all, sleep at home. xD

But but but, sleep is GOOD. Omg, what's happening to me? Help!

Somewhere new

Alhamdulillah. I'm all settled into my new apartment. I've taken all my things with me and all that's left is to find somewhere to chuck all of them here in my new place. Haha.

A little something regarding my apartment, we have 3 bedrooms, 1 dining room, and a spacious living room. By far it is much much better than my previous one. Definitely. I'll get some pictures in, as soon as I get my things in place. Hehe. Nak tunjuk kena lah tunjuk yang bagus je kan? Yang buruk-buruk kena duduk serumah baru lah tahu. ;)

Anyways, I've got a new roommate this time. Hehe. Its gonna be Haq and I in one room while my other 2 house mates got a room of their own. It is not that they didn't offer me the single room, but I prefer sharing a room with another person, in this case, Haq especially. Hopefully banyak gossip and kurang makan. :P I still have about 5 kg to shed from the aftermath of returning back home last summer. Go, Jo, go!

OMG, it's pushing 9pm and I've yet to start reading up the lectures. Dah lah skip lecture community medicine tadi. Seriously, I couldn't take it anymore just now. I barely even grasp the Microbiology lecture before that. Plus, winter's here. I'm cold. :(

Okay then, like a cute little chubby girl likes to say, "shou go" :P

Ps. Safe flight Alia. Though you seemed not too excited about the trip, I hope you'll have fun. Dhana will be wanting to absorb your joy and enthusiasm when you get back home nanti. Take care dear. And to dhana, study well k sayang. Last day to prepare esok. All the best. :)

Mid-term exams

Aha, I'm just into my 2nd week of lectures and I already have to prepare for our end-of-block exam. First of three of this semester, I think. Its on the 4th of November pulak tu. Rawr!

List of subjects:-

1) Anatomy (15 lectures)
2) Microbiology (9 lectures)
3) Parasitology (5 lectures)
4) Pathology (4 lectures)
5) Community Medicine (6 lectures)

Roughly you can say 1 lecture is equivalent to at least 45mins of revision, depending on the subject though. Crazy right? I understand that it is our last pre-clinical year, but why the need to torture? I'm only 20, I still need fun. :p

Ps. Oh, there's also 2 PBL (problem solving) presentations that we need to prepare and the first one's due this Tuesday. Urh! This is what I get for procrastinating. Rawr!

Ps. I miss home.

Oh btw..

Apparently Alia asked me whether have I gotten a tombstone for my blog. Funny, Alia. But it was nice to chat with you yesterday. :) And I'll be sure to ask you about the tombstone, whenever I need one. :P

New

This week's catch-phrase, New! No particular reason about it though. Just for the fact that this entry will be about everything new. ;)

First and foremost, as promised, I'm gonna devote an entry to the new students of the International Undergraduate Medical Program(IUMP) of Alexandria Faculty of Medicine. These students even outnumber us, the 3rd year students! (and now I know how it feels to be a minority) And if my numbers are correct, there's about 200 MARA scholars and 40 private students. Ramai kan? Ni tak masuk other nationals lagi. Fuh. Anyway, nothing new about these MARA scholars btw. They're simply a younger version of us, the 3rd years. (omg, I'm old! Hehe) What caught my eye were the private students. To date, I've seen at least four girls without their tudungs AND one dude who has a HUGE earring on his left ear. Not that I'm not used to these, being born and bred in KL and all, but it's definitely a first here in Alexandria. However, I'm not being judgemental or anything. They're students just like me and we came here for the same purpose - a medical degree. But I do pity them. Give it a few months (or even weeks), then we'll see what'll happen to them. I'm not gonna write about it here though, too sensitive in my opinion. Plus, I do have readers who're studying here. Wouldn't want to offend anyone, would we? ;) So, for those who are just curious, drop me an email! Hehe.

Next on the "everything new" list is, I'm moving! To a new apartment! When? Today! Haha. I'll try to get some pictures up and I do stress on the word, 'try'. It'll be tiring day for sure with all the cleaning that waits ahead. Kalau ade orang tolong kan best. ;)

Last but not least, last week I've started my new semester here. My 5th semester to be exact. One more semester and I'll be starting my clinical classes. How fast time flies. Anyhow, I've got 6 days of lectures this year instead of 5 last year. (Yay! Not.) But even with 6 days of lectures a week, there's still a rumour that we'll be finishing late this year. What the #^$%, right? Sigh. If it is true, it'll only mean one thing - a shorter summer break. Again, what the *#$%!

Till the next post. Sigh.

Alexandria, all over again.

Yup yup yup..

I'm back in Alexandria peeps! Not too excited about it at first but since my class will be starting this week, it's only appropriate for me to get all hyped about it. ;) Why shouldn't I be right? I'm gonna be a 3rd year med junkie, my last pre-clinical year and a hell of a syllabus. Haha. Better get my study hat on ASAP. :P Gotta improve my CGPA!

Well, yesterday I went to the campus to submit my passport for visa application and I also went to attend the introduction to e-learning. It wasn't because I was interested in knowing what e-learning is all about, (I already know what's e-learning, you see) it was more about me wanting to catch a glimpse of the 1st year students. If you guys wanna know what's my first impression about them, be sure to read up my next entry. I'm planning to devote a whole entry to them. They should be proud! :P

Anyway, the weather's getting colder by the day and I can't seem to get rid of the flu bug I caught on the plane. *Sneeze* I'm missing home terribly too. Sigh. Come quick July 2009~
