Ecstatic

OMG, I missed you guys! Please please please say you miss me too! :P

I'm really happy and contented at the moment and here I am, sharing my ecstaticity with all of you. Hehe.

First and foremost, I've just finished the last of my triad of midterms this semester. Some of you might have known, the paper I had just now was about the block of Neuroscience. As always, it was PBL-based and we had 30 minutes to answer questions regarding several clinical problems. I did fairly well, I guess. Alhamdulillah. :) The preparation, however, was tedious. I'm not gonna let it ruin my current mood though. ;)

Next, I've completed two of my previous assignments which was for Physiology and Microbiology. Since these presentations carry about 15% of our final marks, it was really stressful for a few of us - me including. Once again, I'm grateful that I did well in the presentations, Microbiology especially. I did take a peek at my marks and saw the number "15" written beside my name. Full marks for the presenter in black. ;)

;)

These photos were taken last Thursday during the Microbiology session. Today's Physiology presentation was 'OK' as I wasn't really in the mood to give a presentation after an examination. (alasan) :P And and, my section also had our Pharmacology class as usual and boy was it dull. Others are soundly sleeping back home but we in Section 1 had to endure a very slow and sleepy class in the lab. Oops, someone got me sleeping btw. Hehehehe.

*yawn*

Hehe. Btw, Alia asked me about how I rate my life to date. I gave her an 8 with the reason being
1) great parents, 2) awesome family, 3) wonderful relationship, 4) good friends, 5) duit ade, and 6) doing well in my studies. :) Why not 10 ey? Hehe. That's for Alia to know. Segan lah nak cakap sini. :P

Okie dokie, I'm late for bowling. Nak kalahkan Raden ngan Mizi tonight. Bowl away~!

Effing midterms, again.

Title says it all.

Title explains why I've not been blogging recently. And I also have my countless (it is only three, really) assignments to blame.

Title explains why I'm dreading this coming Saturday.

Because of the title I'm ranting right now.

I wish I can simply ignore the title, but obviously, I can't.

The title sucks.

Eff! Eff! Eff!

Hehe. Figured I'd do something different for a change. I do have a lot to complain you see. ;) Anyways, last night Haq and I went to San Stefano to accompany Meor get his iPhone 3G. Yeah, you read right, iPhone 3G. I was like, "Woah, seriously?", when he told me of his intention early yesterday. He's been eyeing it ever since his previous phone was stolen, I guess. And now he's got it. Kudos Meor.

So, after that we had dinner there and since the food-court is packed, we simply ordered take-out and ate by the Mediterannean. Hehe. As always, here are some pics for you guys.

Haha, sempat lagi posing time mengunyah. :P And guys, do pray so that I won't run out of steam till the finals in February. No more holidays will only mean a lot more complains from me. I'm such a spoilt-brat. Hehe. Cheerio! :)

Oh, and by everyone I meant Haq, Adam, Meor, Syai and myself. We had fun cooking. Wait. That doesn't sound gay, right? :P

Anyways, here are some pics for you guys. Enjoy! :)

Eid is here.

Eid el-Adha in Egypt can only mean one thing for the Malaysian students of Alexandria Faculty of Medicine - 1 week of holiday. :) There's still class on Saturday though but looking forward to the holidays, I think I can manage another day of school. ;)

FYI, the students here normally use the Eid holidays to travel. I myself travelled for a week to Jordan last year. It was definitely an experience and being the pioneer group of students to travel abroad by ourselves sort of inspired others to follow suit this year. Most whom I've heard are travelling to Europe - Amsterdam, Paris, Madrid, Dublin and even Frankfurt. Talk about inspiring eh? ;) Hehe. And there's also a group who's going to Jordan. Hmm. Where am I heading you ask? Hehehe. The answer to that shall be, *drumroll in the background* nowhere. :P One reason is partly majorly due to my desire to buy a DSLR camera next year, so obviously I've got to save some moolah since it's not gonna be cheap. Secondly, if I travel this year, it'll be with the other group of students. Travelling for me means leaving the people you know behind, meeting new environments. I don't want to travel and still see the same faces I see in the lecture hall everyday. You get my point, right? I might as well save up for my honeymoon terus even if it'll take, erm, *counts my fingers* 5-6 years from now? Hehehehe.

So, I'll be sticking around in Alexandria (I heard there's gonna be plenty of kenduri invitations coming my way) and simply take my time to reorganize myself. Things have been pretty hectic lately ever since my end-of-block examinations last week. Rarely studying after lectures is a very good definition of "hectic" for me. So I guess this holiday shall be a recuperating period (not incubation) for me. Get my feet back firmly on the ground. Catch up with everything which I've left dragging behind. Hmm. I've to be really good, you see. Have to proof to a certain someone, I can be positive. ;)

Okay then, I guess I'll just wrap things up with some pictures of my travel to Jordan last year. Memories are definitely best kept photographed, since it is the nature of a human mind to forget. :) So, beli camera, Joe! :P

Streching melihat Wadi Musa. :P

Melompat kat Jerash. xD

J-14, kat Petra. :)

Neuroscience

What's up peeps? :)

I'm sure most of you are unaware of the fact that I am currently studying all there is to know about Neuroscience. Yer lah en, I didn't write any entry about it, so how can you guys know right? :P But yeah, the block prior to this which was the head and neck was to prepare us for our current block - Neuroscience.

Hence, up till now, I've found the topic somewhat interesting no matter how abstract it is. Why abstract you may ask? Well, for one, the Physiological point-of-view of Neuroscience tend to be resolving a lot around theories and MORE theories. There's even a FEW different theories on a SINGLE phenomena. Take the topic of 'referred pain' for example. To explain its occurrence, one could argue whether to agree with the "Facilitation theory" or the "Convergence theory". Both are accepted nowadays but you still can't resist arguing about it. :P

Neuro-anatomy on the other hand, requires a whole LOT of imagination. The structures are so MINUTE that when the professor asked me, "Can you see this fibres running transversely?". I squinted trying to look for the fibres mentioned and simpy answered, "Oh, yes." I didn't see it btw. Hehe. So at the end of the class, the professor said Neuroanatomy is very hard and one have to really read and try to understand before seeing it practically. Out of the blue I blurted, "Yeah, it is kind of IMAGINARY." Heh. He corrected me by saying, "It is not imaginary. It is there but you need to use your imagination." Macam takde beza je, kan? :P

Anyways, that happened during last week's practical. This week's practical was a whole lot easier since we're looking at the surface of the cerebral hemisphere. It felt somewhat awesome holding a brain in your hand. ;)

Subhanallah, how something which is the size of one's hand controls everything.

Well, you've got to admit, it does look cool. ;)

Mad doctors on the loose.

Let me ask all of you a rhetorical question. Would any of you want to be attended to by doctors who are seeing things? Doctors who are anxious, cranky for no reason, mentally ill? Read here if you guys wanna know exactly what I'm talking about.

It seems that newborn doctors nowadays are cracking up, one by one. There's finally proof to the term, "Mad Doctor". However, as funny as it may sound, this issue is definitely causing headaches to the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA). I'm a little bit flabbergasted when I read the article and saw Dr Ismail Merican's comment regarding the cause of the problem. Pressured into taking Medicine by parents? Puh-lease. People who are pressured into medical school by their parents, will not even graduate medical school in my opinion. To graduate, you don't only need intelligence and hardwork. What you really need is the driving force which will push you through all the hurdles waiting in front of you. This "push", which will give you the perseverence and the consistency required, is what you need to graduate med school.

One have to admit though, studying Medicine is definitely a huge hurdle. Putting that fact aside, medical students themselves have to realize that, success in obtaining a medical degree DOES NOT mean the job is done. As a matter of fact, it is only beginning. Learn to accept this as soon as you stepped your feet in med school and I believe, you'll be fine. Prepare yourselves not only physically but most importantly, mentally for what's to come - housemanship, hours of being on-call etc. Mind over matter as some may say.

Whatever it is, I do hope the MMA will find the best solution for this matter. Another examination before our housemanship is definitely not the way to go. Whoever wants to sit for an exam when you've graduated after 5-6 years of studies? If you wanna test something, put knowledge aside, and focus on our sanity instead.

So, to you non-medical people, if any of you happens to fall ill and goes to the clinic or hospital, be sure to ask your attending physician or doctor, "You're not ga-ga, are you?" Hehe. Just for laughs. :P
