That first step

When we were babies, taking that first step bring cheers of joy to our parents. That special occasion was cherished and celebrated, marking an important milestone in our growth.

However, long after that first step, as we venture into life, more first steps were taken, sometimes even without us realizing them. But when it really matters, we tend to stumble.

Why?

Because we think too much.

Note to self - Cast away any doubts. Take the initiative. Grab life by its collar. Get the upper hand. Make the first step.

Reach for it!

Everyone's got different goals that they want in life. But sometimes they just seem too far.

Well, you can't always get what you want. Fact. But if you think its something you deserve, reach for it. You may be surprised by what you'll get just by trying. ;)

Today is our day.

Lazy, what?

There's a lot of reasons that one can give for being lazy.

"I'm tired today, I think I'll give the lectures a skip."
"I'm going to the gym later, I'll study tomorrow."
"I..." "I..." "I..."

And only when its too late, you'll start cursing yourself for being a lazy-ass.

A quote for all, posted by my better half. Illustrated to make this post more colorful. Lol.

"What you are is what you have been.."

"And what you will be is what you do now."

So choose fellow future-doctors. What will you be? A good hardworking doctor, or a bad lazy doctor?

Just a gentle reminder to my colleagues and I who may or may not be suffering from studying burn-out. :)

Stranded

Why should we be anchored down?
When others are not
Oh why do we bother?

God gave us minds, so that we can think. To differentiate us, drawing a big line separating our species with the rest. But why are they the ones who are carefree? Why are we the ones restricted by norms? Why are we stranded, like this boat, while they fly free?

Break away from normality.
Stand, for what you believe.

Tiru Sifar!

Salam 1Iskandariah. :D

Tiap kali exam, benda yang sama akan diungkit. Sedikit perkongisan, moga dapat manfaat.

My mouth will be silent. My eyes will be ignoring you. I will pretend you did not just ask me for my answers. Yes, I'm evil. Oh I so want you to fail, you may say. Whatever. I am your friend. And friends don't help friends cheat.

Kaya dunia?

"Kita jadi doktor ni, kena ikhlaskan niat kita.

Ikhlaskan niat. InsyaAllah dipermudahkan usaha kita. :)

Someday..

"I dream of being a surgeon."

"I'm gonna marry her one day."

"Someday, I'll definitely visit Europe."

Everyone has their own wonderful deams and desires. These dreams had been with us for as long as we could remember. One could simply be dozing off in class one day, imagining himself munching on a slice of pepperoni pizza in the most famous Pizzeria in Italy.

"Hmm, I want to go there someday.." - a phrase which is no stranger to everyone who call themselves humans.

However, at some point in our age, reality sets in. Responsibilities begin to pile, one on top another. And these dreams of ours, slip further and further back into our minds. Realists never fantasize. Or so we thought. What we don't know, these dreams were never gone. Instead, the lie deep within our subconscious, resurfacing when we least expect it. And when it does, we'll begin to think again, "Someday, I'll make my dreams come true." But too bad. "Someday" never comes.

I once read a quotation, but I couldn't remember who made it. He said, "A good plan violently executed now, is better than a perfect plan next week." I guess this applies to each and every one of us as we go through our lives. Our biggest dreams and desires are still alive, no matter how far we push them inside. And these dreams will return, as soon as we make them our present-day priority. :)

Our destiny is too wonderful to delay. Make the commitment, take the steps. Do what it takes. ;)

Ps. I just felt like writing in the midst of studying. Pandai2 lah en masing2 nak faham. Hehe. Good luck for the midterms everyone.

B.E.S.T.

Good morning, peeps! ;)

Yesterday, whilst I was taking a break from Ketamine, Terbinafine and what-not, I read a page from the book Today's the Day by Jim Stovall. I found it to be rather inspiring so I'm gonna rephrase it in my own words and share it with you guys here. ;)

The article was about being the best or simply to say, getting the best out of your life. We always hear people say, "I wanna be the best!", "That number one spot is mine!" and everything in that category. It is unusual for us to hear people say, "I'm satisfied with being second!" or "We're going to let the other group win and lets aim for the consolation prize!" I guess it is only human of us to at least desire to be the best either in one thing or another. We work hard and compete with others to achieve what's best for our lives. We live our life the best we could so as to not look back when we're old and say, "I should have done better."

According to Jim Stovall, the best way to be the best at what we do is simply to break down the word "Best" into its components:-

"B" is for Balance. Balance is what we need to have to keep our lives stable. We do not want to be the best at something but not have something else which we'll treasure in life. Lets take a famous medical researcher for an example. Being the best in his field, this researcher could have simply discovered the cure to AIDS and save mankind from this terrible disease. But, if he did it at the expense of not spending time with his kids, not taking the time for leisures and not taking the time to see the world, he definitely does not count as to being one of the best researchers. We have to always take into consideration, all perspectives of life to be the best.

"E" for Enthusiasm. This is simple enough. If you do not have the enthusiasm or passion in whatever you're doing, let it be a job or a hobby, you will definitely not be successful doing it. Heck, you won't even be enjoying what you're doing. If you do not feel the passion, find something different or try to change your attitude to be happy at what you're doing.

"S" is for Single-mindedness. By being single-minded in what you do, does not simply mean that you look at things in just a single dimension. It means that when you're doing something, you have the ability to focus your mind completely on it. Simply to say, when you work, you work. And when you play, you play. :P

Last but not least, "T" which stands for Tenacity. The author mentioned that this is the utmost important component which is required to be the best. And I can only agree totally with him. To be number one (that is to be successful), you need to strive. Perserverence is the key to success like how people always say. Keep your motivation and eagerness to succeed high, and insyaAllah, you'll eventually win. Try giving a blind man a baseball bat and get the best pitcher to pitch at him. No matter how many misses he gets, as long as he keeps swinging, he'll hit the ball soon enough. That's tenacity. ;)

So, it all depends on ourselves to shape the outcome of our life. Change, and see the difference. :)

Ps. Comments would be greatly appreciated. :P

I need guidance..

Hey..

The number of my assignments have been dwindling for the last couple of days. Just this week, one presentation after another have reduced the amount of work needed done. Thank God. However, as one door closes, a few others open. I'm not even sure whether it is appropriate to give them the term, "doors". Honestly, I'd prefer the word, "pit holes" - deep and endless. Yeah, that certainly sums it well. Obviously I'm talking about my end-of-semester finals. Duh. The practical part is only 9 days left and the written part, hmm, three weeks, plus minus a few days. Definitely too close for comfort.

This time around, it'll be my fifth time, preparing for these examinations. It is just too bad, instead of seeing myself handling it better, I only saw myself feeling a lot of unnecessary stress. And the stress is definitely increasing by the semester. A whole lot of me would put the blame on the insane amount of knowledge that's required from us each term. Before I came here, people used to say, "You'll definitely find it hard for the first two years but it'll be smooth sailing from then on." Being an enthusiastic-naive "kid", I looked forward to the challenge. I dare you to say it to me again now. (Ps. You'd better be wearing a chain-mail)

Medicine is definitely a branch trunk of knowledge which requires a crazily-huge amount of hard work and perseverance. Being someone who have devoted his life to all this, who am I to complain? Suck it up and face it, head on! ;) But I know, I definitely need help. The priceless support and guidance from my loved ones, will be the stick, whacking me on the head when I'm lazy. The continuous silent prayers, will be my pillar, holding me. You guys' are my strength when I am weak, my light when I am lost, my conscience, when I am wrong.

Oh well, semangat macam mane pun, I still feel like jumping into a "pit hole" after seeing the pile of books in front of me. I've got room for one more. Any takers? ;)

Gambar hiasan. That dude is DEFINITELY NOT ME. :P

The Snapping Turtle

Heyya guys. Somehow today, I feel like doing good to the society. So, as a consequence, hear me preach! :P

Do you guys know what's a snapping turtle? No?

Lets take it in a kid's perspective or simply to say, a random someone who doesn't know what this turtle can do. The kid will try to put his fingers in for the first time, and yes, he'll get snapped at. Being a kid, he tried to put them in a second time and again, his fingers got snapped at. Worrying that his fingers might get bitten, the kid stopped. The snapping turtle won.

"Victory! Rawrrr!"

And know you know. So, would you ever poke your finger in its shell to get its head out? Would you let your fingers get snapped at, over and over again, hoping that somehow the turtle will give up and stop snapping? Hold that thought for a moment.

If we were to relate this somewhat silly story to our life, we would see that there is a lot to learn from the snapping turtle. Many of us tend to forget the wisdom of the snapping turtle. All around, people fail not because they did not do something which they do not know, but instead, people fail because they did not do something which they do know. To quote what Sigmund Freud said, "Insanity is defined as doing the the same thing over and over again, and continually expecting a different result". Hence, if you want a different result in your life, take a different action and once you've figured it out, keep it up. It is your life after all, and not someone's else. Why not start now?

Cheerio. :)

Hey ho! Lets go!

Hey all, this is just going to be a REALLY short entry.

Just wanted to share with you guys(especially those who're having exams right now) something which I find really helpful to get a hold of yourself when you're down, exhausted of all the studying or just feel like giving up. Or, you can just listen to it simply if you want to rock n roll. :p

Enjoy, Blitzkrieg Bop by Ramones.

Listen to it and get back on your feet, or if you wanna roll like me, listen to it till you fall asleep. Haha.

Histology's up, gotta go! Till then.

Ps: Turn it up loud for 'Perk Yourself Max'. ;)

Tick tock.. tick tock..

he knows that time has abandoned him..
But yet, he is here.

for all he knows, he is putting his life on the table..
But yet, he is here.

and yes, he knows life's challenges aren't always that simple..
But yet, he is here.

helpless he feels, for he knows, that time is unforgiving..
But yet, all he can do, is stare blankly at the brick wall.

he closes his eyes to open his ears to his heart..
instead of hearing the all-so-lively lub dub, lub dub..
all he heard, was, tick tock.. tick tock..

Time

Salam wrm readers, and may you guys be in the kindest of spirit.

"Time is Gold"

Ever since we were kids, let it be at home or in school, most of us have heard of the mentioned phrase countless of times. I remember once when I was in SSG, there was this competition where we were required to pick a phrase and illustrate them in drawings. So, since "Time is Gold" was the only saying I know then, I drew a clock and some gold bars. Haha. Just so you know, I'm horrible at drawings.

However, back then, when I was that young, I never really grasped the meaning of time. Or should I say, the VALUE of time. What do kids now about time, right? All that we had in our simple minds can be easily defined into one word - fun.

But, as we grow older, life begins to unfold itself. Responsibilities start to mount, one on top of another. It is now that we finally know the true meaning of time, its value, together with the fact that, time waits for no man. Some are fortunate because they're able to always, for MOST of the time, be ahead of their work. All of it can be achieved yes, by proper planning and perseverance. On the other side of the world however, some may try but find it hard, and there are also some, who can't even be bothered. So, ask yourselves, where do you stand?

Here's something which I would like to share with everyone. I hope you'll see it like I did.

To realize the value of ONE YEAR, ask a student who failed a grade.
To realize the value of ONE MONTH, ask a mother who gave birth to a premature baby.
To realize the value of ONE WEEK, ask the editor of a weekly newspaper.
To realize the value of ONE HOUR, ask the lovers who are waiting to meet.
To realize the value of ONE MINUTE, ask a person who missed the train.
To realize the value of ONE SECOND, ask a person who just avoided an accident.
To realize the value of ONE MILLISECOND, ask the person who won a silver medal in the Olympics.

Treasure every moment that you have. And treasure it more because you shared it with someone special, special enough to spend your time.

And remember, time waits for no one.
Yesterday is history.
Tomorrow is a mystery.
Today is a gift. That's why it's called the present.

Till the next post, stay beautiful. /wink/
